I get the Bathory comparisons, but I place Marthe more in the lineage of great female poet/musicians like Patti Smith, Diamanda Galás, and Siouxsie (who she covers on “Sin in My Heart”). This transcends metal for me. Absolutely magnificent! Thanks for putting this in the feed today, Yoma. Perfect timing :)

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10
